A depth sized for the passage available
An entryway console isn't meant to carry as much as a living-room console: its role is to hold a tray, a lamp, the day's post — not to serve as a worktop. That's why it can stay noticeably narrower than a living-room console without losing stability: the base is sized for the load actually expected, not for a generic use case.
| Configuration | Depth | Usual length |
|---|---|---|
| Very narrow hallway (<70 cm clearance) | 20 – 24 cm | 60 – 90 cm |
| Standard entryway | 24 – 30 cm | 80 – 120 cm |
A base designed not to get in the way
In a hallway, the base matters just as much as the top: legs set too wide apart or a cross-brace placed too low get in the way day to day. The workshop adapts the base's design to the actual layout — described in the quote form, with photos if useful.
